Pathway to ACCA

The fundamental level comprises of 9 papers and the strategic professional level comprises of 4 papers. All nine papers in the fundamental level are compulsory. In the strategic professional level, students are given an option of selecting 2 papers from a set of 4, with 2 being essential.

When can I take my exam?
Students can take session-based exams during our four exam sessions a year. These take place over 5 days in March, June, September and December.
How many exams can I take at each exam session?
You can enter a maximum of four exams per session and a maximum of eight different exams each calendar year.
How long does it take to complete the qualification?
Most trainees qualify in 3-4 years. However, ACCA has a 10-year time limit to complete the qualification should you choose to take longer. You have seven years to pass the strategic professional exam once you pass your first strategic professional exam on you pass your first strategic professional exam.
What is the pass rate for the ACCA exam?
The pass rate on the ACCA differs by geographic region, but an overall average for applied skill is 49% and Strategic Professional is 44%. For further details please refer to this link.
Do I need to have an accounting degree to study ACCA?
No. You can start studying ACCA without any prior accountancy knowledge. The ACCA Qualification will provide you with all the skills and knowledge you need to work as an accountant in any sector, anywhere in the world.

What do I need to do in order to become an ACCA Member?
In order to achieve the ACCA Qualification and become a Member, students have to:
  • ● complete a maximum of 13 exams, depending on prior experience and qualifications
  • ● complete an Ethics and Professional Skills module
  • ● evidence three years of practical work experience within a relevant role.
